Abstract

As part of an official network for evaluating sunflower genotypes, coordinated by Embrapa Soja, an experiment was carried out in Coxilha, Rio Grande do Sul state (RS), Brazil, during 2009/2010. The objective was to evaluate the performance of genotypes of sunflower in the “Planalto Médio region of RS”. The trial was a RCBD – Randomized Complete Block Design, with four replications. The treatments were 21 sunflower genotypes. Stages of crop development, grain yield, oil content, oil yield, thousand-kernel weight (TKW), plant height, diameter of the capitulum, curvature of the stem and lodging were recorded for each genotype. Grain yield and other traits differed among genotypes. HLA 211 CL had the highest grain yield with 2,411 kg ha-1 but did not differ from HLA 887, HLA 860 and HLA 41.
