Abstract

The savannas of Central Brazil may produced wheat, triticale and other cereals normally cultivated in cold climate. The genotypes must be adopted, with high yield and small cycle to minimize the probability of the occurrence of spike diseases and allow early harvest. Three experiments were carried out to evaluate the genotypes performance and estimate their grain yield potential under and without irrigation. The results suggests that there is genetic variability for selection of superior genotypes of triticale in the international collections and there are varieties of triticale with potential for extension of cultivation for these areas.
